The Smith & Wesson Mountain Gun Series has been running off and on since 1989. Mountain Guns feature tapered 4" barrels and roundbutt gripframes. These features reduce the weight of the various Smith & Wesson revolvers. The 625 45 Colt Mountain Gun has had a couple of production runs. In 2008, we did an exclusive run of 300 guns. The factory ended up making 304 in total. You can distinguish this edition from others by looking for the S&W logo laser engraved on the side plate. The 45 Colt Mountain Gun makes for a very handy, lighter weight packing gun for the woods.
If large bore revolvers are your cup of tea for carry guns, then this model would be hard to beat. I often think that if this gun would have been around in the 60's and 70's, it would have been the ultimate duty gun for police officers.
